Park MGM Las Vegas Review: Old Hollywood Glam, Smoke-Free Strip Stay

Part 1 of 3 — Arrival & The Room

Check-In: A Warm Welcome, Lights Already On

Park MGM Las Vegas review, check in started things off on the right foot — the agent was genuinely nice, no attitude, no rush. A small but memorable touch: the lights were already on in the room when we walked in, which made the arrival feel considered rather than just transactional.

The Room: Old Hollywood Glam Meets Strip Views

Park MGM operates under Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio — a collection of independent, design-forward hotels — and it shows the moment you walk in. Two queen beds sit under a dark upholstered headboard, topped with an eclectic gallery wall of framed prints — moody photography mixed with vintage-style illustrations. Brass swing-arm sconces flank the beds, and a red glass-top nightstand holds a corded phone, notepad, and Tribute Portfolio branded materials. The room felt clean, well kept, and quiet for the entire stay — a contrast to some of the noisier Strip stays we’ve reviewed, where guest parties and narrow hallways made for a rougher night’s sleep.

No smoking is allowed anywhere on property — including the casino floor itself, which is a real standout on the Strip, where most casinos still allow smoking right on the gaming floor. There’s also no mini fridge in the room, so plan accordingly if you’re bringing your own drinks or snacks.

The Bathroom: Bold Red Tile, Open-Concept Layout

The bathroom leans into color with deep red brick-style subway tile lining the shower — no bathtub in our queen room, just a walk-in shower, but the look made up for it. The layout is open-concept — no door separating the vanity and toilet area from the shower — which won’t be for everyone, but it makes the space feel larger. Fresh towels sat on an open shelving unit next to black-label toiletries, and even the toilet paper had a small branded logo sticker, a detail that says a lot about the level of polish here.

The View: Straight at T-Mobile Arena

Room 15-103 looks directly out over T-Mobile Arena and the Strip — a solid mid-Strip vantage point if you want to actually see something out your window instead of a parking garage. The arena itself is essentially a stone’s throw from the property, connected by an outdoor plaza, which is a real perk if you’re catching a concert, UFC card, or Golden Knights game during your stay. Allegiant Stadium is walkable too — it’s a longer haul, but doable on foot or a quick rideshare if you’re in town for a Raiders game. Park MGM also has its own venue on-site, Dolby Live (formerly Park Theater) — a 5,200-seat theater that’s hosted residencies from Cher, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and Aerosmith. Between Dolby Live, T-Mobile Arena next door, and Allegiant Stadium within walking distance, this is a strong home base if entertainment is part of the trip.

The Closet: Small Details Done Right

Tucked inside: an iron and ironing board, an in-room safe, an ice bucket, and extra hangers — everything you’d actually need, minus a fridge.

The Halls: Moody, Art-Filled, and Full of Character

Wandering the property is half the fun. Deep burgundy corridors are lined with gallery-style walls of curated art — vintage photography, illustration, and the occasional showstopper like a floor-to-ceiling peacock feather mural. A plush red sofa tucked into a mirrored archway nook, flanked by brass sconces, made for one of the most photogenic corners of the whole hotel. It’s dramatic without tipping into gaudy — old Hollywood, filtered through a modern lens.

Park MGM Is Smoke-Free — Even the Casino Floor

This is worth its own callout: Park MGM is fully smoke-free property-wide, including the casino floor itself — a real standout on the Strip, where most casinos still allow smoking right at the tables and slots. Designated smoking and vaping areas exist off the main lobby and at a couple of outdoor spots, but the main gaming floor and public spaces stay clear. It genuinely changes the feel of the place. My daughter and I took a walk over to a few other properties during this trip, and the difference was immediate — some hit you with a heavy signature scent the second you walk in, others had that lingering smoke smell on the casino floor. Walking back into Park MGM after that, it was such a relief — it just smells clean. No gimmick, no smoke. It’s a small thing, but it makes a real difference in how comfortable the property feels to spend time in.

Part 2 of 3 — Amenities & The Pool

The Grounds: Three Pools and an Old-Fashioned Soul

Park MGM has three separate pool areas, each with its own bar, plus a heated spa, lazy river, and kiddie pool. What stood out most, though, was the feel of the place — there’s an old-fashioned charm running through the property that’s hard to put a finger on but easy to appreciate. Lush landscaping, striped umbrellas, and quiet nooks tucked among olive trees give it a softer, more established feel than some of the flashier resorts on the Strip.

The Terrace Pool: Comfy Chairs, Perfect Temperature

We spent time at the Terrace Pool — comfortable lounge chairs, yellow accent cushions, and a relaxed atmosphere with the weather cooperating nicely (not too hot for a Vegas pool day). The little details are dialed in too: colorful blue-and-green mosaic outdoor showers and a full wall of keypad-locking rental lockers for anyone without easy room access.

Part 3 of 3 — Dining & The Verdict

Dining: Bavette’s Steakhouse Earns the Hype

Bavette’s, the steakhouse on property, was excellent — recommended by a friend beforehand, and it lived up to it. We went with the dry-aged New York strip, and it did not disappoint: perfectly seared, tender, and rich enough that it didn’t need much beyond the béarnaise on the side. It’s an upscale menu (think dry-aged steaks, a raw bar, and a serious cocktail list), so budget accordingly, but it’s a strong reason on its own to consider staying here if a nice dinner is part of the trip.

Park MGM’s Dining Scene Goes Well Beyond Steak

The property’s food and drink lineup is deep. Best Friend, chef Roy Choi’s Korean-American concept, brings a loud, neon-lit checkerboard-floor energy with Korean BBQ, kimchi fried rice, and a serious late-night happy hour. Gran Caffè Milano anchors the casino floor with an Italian coffeehouse-meets-bar vibe under a wraparound bottle display. And Eataly occupies a huge footprint near the casino, with an Italian street food counter, a butcher and fishmonger, and a made-fresh-daily gelato counter with flavors ranging from pistachio to salted caramel to lychee sorbetto. Eataly also runs hands-on experiences worth planning around — including live mozzarella-making demonstrations and a tiramisu-making class.

Don’t skip happy hour, either. Juniper Cocktail Lounge has one of the best deals on property: a select draft beer for $12 comes with a complimentary shot — hard to beat for a Strip hotel.

Old Hollywood glamour, a friendly welcome, and a steakhouse worth the splurge — Park MGM quietly does a lot right.

The Bottom Line

Between the friendly check-in, the clean and quiet room, the old-fashioned charm running through the pool and lobby areas, and a genuinely great steakhouse on site, Park MGM earns its spot. The lack of an in-room fridge is a minor knock, and the smoke-free policy is worth knowing about either way — but overall, this is an easy recommend for anyone wanting a mid-Strip stay with more character than the usual big-box resort.
