Las Vegas Monorail: Stops, Hours, Prices & Hotels by Station

VegasUnscripted · Las Vegas Monorail Guide

The Las Vegas Monorail is the fastest way up and down the east side of the Strip, and most visitors never use it. Here are the stops, hours and prices, plus the hotels at each station, from a 24-year local.

Quick Answer

Seven stops, MGM Grand to SAHARA, above the traffic.

It’s worth it if your hotel is near a station, especially for conventions and big event weeks. It doesn’t serve the west side of the Strip or the airport.

Conventions

Stay at Westgate

Hotels near stations

The Monorail runs behind the resorts on the east side of the Strip, on an elevated track above the traffic. Trains typically come every few minutes, and the whole line takes about 15 minutes end to end. On a busy night, that beats a rideshare stuck on Las Vegas Boulevard every time.

The catch is that the stations are at the back of the resorts, so you’ll walk through a casino to get on. Plan a few extra minutes for that, especially the first time.

Local tip: When you book a hotel because it’s “on the Monorail,” check how far the station is from the lobby. At some resorts the station is a long walk through the casino and shopping areas, which matters if you’ll ride it every day.

Las Vegas Monorail Prices: Single Rides and Passes

A single ride is $6 at the station and cheaper as an eTicket bought online. Unlimited passes run from 24 hours up to seven days, and they’re timed by the hour, starting the first time you scan through a gate. Prices change, so check lvmonorail.com before you buy.

  • Riding once or twice? Buy single rides.
  • Riding three or more times in a day? A 24-hour pass usually pays for itself.
  • In town for a convention? Multi-day passes are the better deal, and some shows, like CES, sell discounted Monorail passes through registration.

The local rate: $1 a ride

Nevada residents pay $1 per ride with a valid Nevada driver’s license, state ID or Sheriff Card, bought at a station customer service booth. There’s a limit: two single rides per person per day, or one 10-ride or 20-ride ticket every ten days. If you live here and work events on the Strip, this is the cheapest way to skip resort parking.

Las Vegas Monorail Hours: Not 24 Hours

Hours can change for big events and maintenance, so check the Monorail’s site for notices before a late night.

When the Monorail Is Worth It, and When It Isn’t

SituationUse the Monorail?
Going to the convention centerYes. It stops right there, and it’s usually faster than driving and parking on a show day.
Grand Prix weekYes. It skips the road closures. See our Las Vegas Grand Prix guide.
East side to east sideYes. MGM Grand to SAHARA in about 15 minutes.
West side of the StripNo. No stations at Bellagio, the Venetian, Mandalay Bay or Luxor.
The airportNo. It doesn’t go there. See our airport transportation guide.
Downtown and Fremont StreetNo. The Deuce bus goes downtown. See our Deuce bus guide.

Monorail vs. Deuce vs. Free Trams

The Deuce bus runs the whole Strip 24 hours a day for $8 for a 24-hour pass, but it sits in the same traffic as everyone else. The free resort trams connect Mandalay Bay, Luxor and Excalibur at the south end, and Bellagio, Aria and Park MGM in the middle, covering the west side the Monorail misses. Our Getting Around Las Vegas guide compares every option.
