Free parking on the Las Vegas Strip used to be universal. Then MGM Resorts started charging in 2016, Caesars Entertainment followed, and most major properties went paid within a few years. Today most Strip parking runs $20–$35 per day for self-parking and $40–$50 for valet.
But free parking hasn’t disappeared entirely. You just have to know the rules — which properties are genuinely free, which give locals a break, and which loyalty programs make the fee go away completely.
Always verify before you park. Parking policies change — especially around major events, holidays, and when properties update their loyalty programs. Confirm the current policy at the specific property before you pull into the garage.
Free for Everyone — No Card, No ID Required
These Strip properties offer free self-parking to all visitors regardless of loyalty status or Nevada residency. Worth noting: they’re all on the north end of the Strip.

Nevada Residents — The 3-Hour Rule
If you have a valid Nevada driver’s license, you get the first 3 hours free at all MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment Strip properties. That covers most of the major resorts on the Boulevard.
How to claim it: Scan your Nevada ID at the exit kiosk or gate before you leave. Some properties require you to do this before returning to your car — don’t wait until you’re already at the gate trying to exit.
The STRAT (Stratosphere) goes further for locals — Nevada residents get free in-and-out self-parking for the entire day, not just 3 hours. If you’re doing a long Strip day and want a free base, this is the option.
Loyalty Programs That Unlock Free Parking
MGM Rewards — Pearl Tier
Free self-parking at all MGM Strip properties — Bellagio, Aria, MGM Grand, Park MGM, New York-New York, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, and Vdara. Pearl is the second tier and reachable with moderate play or hotel stays. Gold tier and above get free valet.
Caesars Rewards — Platinum Tier
Free self-parking at all Caesars Entertainment Strip properties — Caesars Palace, Harrah’s, Flamingo, The LINQ, The Cromwell, Paris, Bally’s, and Planet Hollywood. Platinum is mid-tier — achievable with a few visits per year. Diamond tier adds free valet.
Wynn Rewards — Black Tier
Free valet at Wynn and Encore. But remember — self-parking is already free for 3 hours for everyone at Wynn/Encore. Hotel guests get complimentary self-parking for their entire stay regardless of tier.
Off-Strip Free Parking — The Local Approach
Locals rarely pay for Strip parking because they know the off-Strip casinos have always been free. Park here, then rideshare or walk to wherever you’re going on the Strip.
